A chiropractic adjustment (also termed joint manipulation) is a manual or mechanical process of restoring the motion of a restricted joint. The joint is moved within its normal range of motion, often producing a negative pressure in the joint capsule, resulting in a gas bubble that can form and collapse (producing a "popping or cracking" sound that is a benign side effect of the therapy). This treatment helps relax muscles and reduces inflammation within the joints, through the restoration proper mobility and range of motion. 

Depending on your diagnosis, not all conditions require a chiropractic adjustment or you may even have a condition where adjustments are contraindicated. Dr. Boudreau employs  many other treatments in conjunction with chiropractic adjustments or to be used instead of adjustments.  

Dr. Boudreau often utilizes joint mobilization, soft tissue/muscle techniques, traction techniques, medical acupuncture, exercise instruction and even custom orthotics may be used to augment a chiropractic adjustment or may be used instead of adjustments. 

Dr. Boudreau believes in a team approach to care, having a background in multi-disciplinary medical facilities management and having worked as a chiropractor in both military and public hospitals. He often co-manages patients with local therapists, physicians and the team at Holistic Thyme Wellness Center in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia (which includes counselling and massage therapy). .
